Teen & School Student Drivers License Information!!!

Some laws that were passed earlier in 2004 by the Georgia Legislators and signed into law by Governor Perdue went into effect on July 1, 2004. Among the laws that went into effect were school attendance requirement changes for teens who are under the age of 18 getting or keeping a learners permit or a drivers license. Teens under the age of 18 must be enrolled in public or private school or an approved home school program and have an attendance record in good standing or have received their diploma or GED to apply or keep an instructional permit or driver's license.

The provision of a student quitting school with parental permission and being able to keep their drivers license has been removed or repealed.
What this means is if a student quits school and even has the permission of a parent or legal guardian to do so, and the student is under the age of 18, that student's learners permit or drivers license will be suspended by the State of Georgia, once the State is notified by the school system, and the student will no longer be legal to drive a vehicle. Reminder!!!

The sheriff's office has free gun locks available to the public courtesy of Project ChildSafe. The purpose of Project ChildSafe is a nationwide program whose purpose is to promote safe firearms handling and storage practices among all firearms owners through the distribution of key safety education messages and free gun locking devices.
