Rabun County Sheriff's Office

Besides the general law enforcement duties and responsibilities offered by the Rabun County Sheriff's Office, there are some specialized services offered too. A good example of specialized services offered, is the working partnership the Rabun County Sheriff's Office has with the Rabun County School System. Sheriff Don Page, the deputies and staff of the sheriff's office feel that kids are important and will work with them when the opportunity presents itself.

Present for over nine years now at Rabun County High & Middle Schools has been a School Resource Officer or S.R.O. The School Resource Officer Program is a collaborative effort by certified law enforcement officers, educators, students, parents, and the community to offer law related educational programs in the schools in an effort to reduce crime, drug abuse, violence, and provide a safe school environment. This is done by utilizing the TRIAD concept (Law Enforcement Officer - Teacher - Counselor) of school based law enforcement. There is a two week training process to become certified as a  School Resource Officer. After the initial certification training there is additional and advanced training offered through organizations like N.A.S.R.O. or the National Association School Resource Officers. Additional information can be found by clicking here or the button below.

Rabun Gap Community School, South Rabun Elementary School, Rabun County Elementary School and Rabun County Head Start also receive attention from the Rabun County Sheriff's Office. When requested, these schools receive visits and have programs presented during a school year as well.

As information on other services becomes available, the information will be posted here.
